Medical Ophthalmologist (MD/DO)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical ophthalmic evaluations and treatment with a focus on preserving vision, managing ocular disease, and delivering exceptional patient care
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of ophthalmic conditions including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye disease, ocular surface disease, cataracts, and other anterior and posterior segment pathology
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based medical therapies and in-office procedures as appropriate
- Interpret diagnostic testing including OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, and other ophthalmic imaging modalities
- Coordinate care with primary care physicians, endocrinologists, retina specialists, glaucoma specialists, and cataract surgeons to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Evaluate and manage patients before and after ophthalmic surgery in collaboration with surgical colleagues
- Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, disease prevention, and long-term ocular health
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation utilizing ModMed EMR
- Collaborate closely with optometrists, ophthalmologists, technicians, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience through compassionate, professional communication and patient-centered care
- Remain current on advancements in medical ophthalmology, treatment protocols, and emerging technologies
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency Program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
- Active and unrestricted Arizona medical license or ability to obtain licensure
- Strong diagnostic, clinical, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to efficiently manage a high patient volume while maintaining quality of care and patient satisfaction
- Experience with electronic medical records; ModMed experience preferred
- Commitment to providing outstanding patient-centered care
