Our practice is limited to medical and surgical ophthalmology and staffed by 100% fellowship-trained subspecialists in retina, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastics and cataract/refractive. Routine and general exams are referred elsewhere. We have an onsite 100% practice owned ASC and no optical. Our 35-year history in the community allows us a good balance of medically and self-referred patients. A fellowship-trained oculoplastics subspecialist in our practice would be the only such designation in an area of 90 miles and a population of greater than one million. Our particular demographic ensures success for oculoplastics. Opportunities to do clinical research, write papers, and lecture are abundant. Our metropolitan area of 130,000 is home to two universities and one osteopathic medical school. Founded by Lynn B. McMahan, MD in 1978, Southern Eye Center is a premier facility dedicated to treating diseases and conditions of the eye. Our facility is a Center of Excellence in South Mississippi.
