Position Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia, invites applications for a clinical-track (non-tenure track), tenure track, or tenured faculty position in ophthalmology at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. 



The successful candidate will join an ophthalmology service of two board-certified ophthalmologists, three ophthalmology residents, and one to two dedicated full-time technicians. The ophthalmology service maintains a busy and diverse caseload including a substantial equine caseload. 



The major responsibilities for this position are to provide service in ophthalmology in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital; to participate in pre-clinical and clinical training in ophthalmology of professional students, interns, and residents; and to develop a research program, which can be independent and/or collaborative with other faculty members. Proportionate assignments for each area will be based on the interests of the candidate in conjunction with the missions of the ophthalmology program and the Department. The ophthalmologist will participate in out-of-hours emergency duty equitable with other members of the service. Key competencies for potential candidates include astute and personable communication skills and a comfort level with busy canine and equine medical and surgical ophthalmology clinics. Achieving and maintaining a seamless relationship and active participation with our established service and training program is critical.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate or full professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrable national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Candidate should also have board certification or successfully completed a residency-training program accepted by the American or European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.
